Fabric Structures for Commercial Waste Management Storage
The versatility of Big Top’s fabric structures makes them an ideal solution for numerous applications, including commercial waste management. In fact, our shelters offer many advantages over traditional open-air facilities, providing protection from the elements to allow waste and recycling processes to run uninterrupted.
Protection From the Elements
Commercial waste management and recycling operations are commonly carried out in the open air, likely to minimize unpleasant odors. However, open-air production is perpetually at risk of exposure to the elements. A sudden rainstorm can quickly grind production to a halt, and some materials, such as cardboard, lose their value once wet. A Big Top fabric structure provides shelter from the whims of Mother Nature, allowing commercial waste management processing to continue no matter the weather. This ensures production runs on schedule and sensitive materials retain their recyclable value.
Outstanding Thermal Protection
A Big Top fabric structure provides more than just a roof overhead: It offers superior thermal protection for materials, equipment, and staff. The fabric roof is formulated to repel 99.95% of harmful UV-A and UV-B radiation, preventing recyclable materials from degrading and keeping employees safe as they work through the day.
Odor Control
Our fabric commercial waste management structures are naturally ventilated to minimize odors. They can be open-ended at one or both ends, and we can also include ventilation and air-scrubbing systems for further air-quality control.
Spacious Interiors for Waste Management & Recycling
At Big Top, we custom design our fabric structures to meet the unique needs of our customers. Our shelters can be nearly any size—up to 80 feet tall, 174 feet wide, and nearly any length—to accommodate any size waste management production. Plus, there are no internal columns or guy wires taking up space in our buildings, so the entirety of the interior can be utilized. Furthermore, our fabric structures do not require a concrete foundation and can be anchored to nearly anything, allowing them to be erected anywhere a commercial waste management facility is required.
Energy Saving Solutions
The fabric roof, which is translucent, allows sunlight to illuminate the interior, eliminating the need for electric lighting. Plus, thanks to its exceptional thermal performance, the roof helps to keep the interior at a pleasant temperature that is, on average, 15 degrees cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Under our shelters, staff members will be comfortable throughout the day and will be less prone to heat exhaustion and other dire health effects of long-term exposure to the sun. Because they do not require artificial lighting or climate control, our shelters can certainly help save on energy costs.
Case Study: Emerald Coast Utilities Authority
Big Top had the honor of helping the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority with their waste management operations. We created a facility measuring more than 50,000 square feet to accommodate the complex floorplan of their recycling equipment. We delivered a prompt turnaround by manufacturing and shipping the structure within three weeks and installing it in less than 60 days. Now that they have their own waste management facility, the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority is savings roughly $45 per ton of material. That’s in addition to the energy savings they’re reaping from their Big Top fabric structure.
