Fabric Structures Outfitted with Solar Technology
Fabric structures from Big Top not only offer a cost-effective alternative to permanent buildings for organizations that need a space for manufacturing, materials processing, safety meetings, or other usages, but they also provide versatility with a modular design and numerous add-on features. One such feature is solar technology.
We offer three solar lighting packages that feature 28, 14, and six LED lighting systems, which can run for up to four hours. Because the time of year and climate where you’re located can affect solar collection, we can also install a generator to ensure you have ample power to light up your nighttime operations. Additional storage units are available to maximize the amount of solar energy you collect. Having the capability of attaching solar technology to offset some of your nighttime power usage will provide even more energy savings.
Our solar power system works by absorbing sunlight through the panels and using that solar energy to charge a battery bank. The system then sends DC power stored in the batteries to an inverter that changes it to AC, which can then be used to power lighting.
Protection from the Sun
During the day, while your solar panels soak up the sun to store energy, the fabric in our structures repels its radiation to protect your staff and equipment. In fact, our fabric blocks 99.95 percent of harmful UV-A and UV-B radiation, for a UPF rating of 2,000 and a conventional rating of 50 plus. This also helps our shelters maintain a comfortable interior temperature that is an average of 15 degrees cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than the outside climate.
